What does participation in the CHAYA project entail?
Participants enrolled in the project are asked to complete a set of questions in an annual survey each year and complete bi-monthly check-ins with their research associate if any contact changes need to be updated. Research Associates will reach out to participants periodically as reminders.
How do I check to see if I completed my annual survey?
If you aren't sure whether you have competed your survey this year, please reach out to your research associate and they can further assist you.
I didn't complete my survey last year, can I still participate?
Yes, all enrolled participants are encouraged to participate in our annual survey each year as any contribution is valued. Please reach out to your research associate for further assistance.
I don't use marijuana anymore, am I still eligible to participate?
Yes, all participants already previously enrolled in the study are still eligible to participate even if their cannabis practices have change or they no longer use cannabis.
What if I moved out of LA County, can I still participate?
Yes, all participants already previously enrolled in the study are still eligible to participate even if they have moved out of the LA county area. Participants are encouraged to contact their research associate to update any changes in residency or contact information.
Is the CHAYA project still recruiting more participants?
The CHAYA team is not recruiting for the current project at this time. However, you are welcome to reach out to one of our research associates for any upcoming opportunities at [email protected]

How do I get paid?
After completing the annual survey, participants will be sent a CHLA clincard. A clincard is a reusable MasterCard debit card, and can be used for online and in-store purchases or can be used at ATMs to withdraw money.
Can I get paid through PayPal, Venmo, Cash App instead?
Due to policy changes, PaylPal, Venmo, and Cash App are no longer accepted methods of compensation. However, we are committed to making sure you received you payment quickly and reliability in appreciation of your time and effort through our Clincard MasterCard Debit card.
I lost my clincard, how do I get my compensation?
If you have misplaced or lost your clincard, your research associate can send you a new clincard.
When will I receive my clincard?
Clincards can take approximately 3-5 business days to be delivered by mail. If you have not received you clincard within 7 business days, please reach out to your research associate.
I received my clincard, but it doesn't work or it has not been activated?
If you are having any issues with your clincard, please reach out to your research associate so that they can further assist in resolving any issues you might have with accessing your funds.
I don't remember if I got paid for completing my survey, is there a way to check?
Yes, please contact your research associate to confirm whether you were compensated for completing the survey or whether your payment is pending.
